Reitox Academy Professional Training course for IPA beneficiaries: The European Union, the EU drugs policy and the enlargement process under the Lisbon Treaty

The training course is organised in cooperation with the College of Europe, the world’s first university institute of postgraduate studies and training in European affairs, and the leading place to study the European Union, its policies and its institutions. In addition, speakers representing DG Justice, DG Enlargement, the Council of the European Union, the European Parliament and the EMCDDA Management Board are invited to give an overview of their activities, with regards to EU drug policy issues.

The course will provide participants with an overview of the EU and dynamics of European integration, post-Lisbon institutional set-up, in particular for enlargement and drug issues. The participants will also learn critical steps in drafting, implementation and evaluation of the EU strategies and action plans in the field of drugs and will exchange experience on requirements and use of the EU funding instruments. In order to enhance debate and exchange of experience on how countries address the challenges encountered during accession periods and beyond, case studies of Croatia and Slovenia will be presented.

A total of 22 participants representing Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo*, Montenegro, Serbia, and Turkey are registered for the course.
